The home needs to be vacant during the VaPURE™ treatment, so plan a place for you and your pets to be for the day. We'll message you a few days before your appointment with simple prep steps — things like opening closet doors and closing windows.
The time varies based on size and scope. Typical home treatments can be completed in 4 to 6 hours.
Costs vary with the unique circumstances in your home that caused mold growth. We tailor our treatment to ensure the best results. Because VaPURE™ technology is non-invasive, it is often cheaper than traditional mold remediation methods.
The active component of the VaPURE™ sterilant is on the EPA's Safer Chemical Ingredients List, and it breaks down shortly after treatment into acetic acid (the same compound in white vinegar), oxygen, and water. People and pets need to be out of the building during the treatment itself, and can return the same evening once it's complete.
Not usually — the vapor is dry, and we haven't had issues with wall art, paintings, or electronics. If a piece is especially valuable, some customers prefer to take it down or cover it, and that's fine too.
To keep produce tasting fresh, we recommend sealing it in a bag or the refrigerator before we arrive rather than leaving it out on the counter.
You should not see any visible residue by the time the treatment is complete.
Leave as many personal belongings in the building as possible — mold spores settle into fabrics, furniture, and mattresses too, so those benefit from treatment as well. Inform your technician of any brass materials inside the home so they can apply the treatment accordingly.
Pets and people need to be out of the building during treatment.
Our patented VaPURE™ vapor is dispersed at roughly 7.5 microns — smaller than a typical mold spore — so it behaves like a gas and reaches most of the same gaps and cavities a mold spore can. In select cases where there's a known, isolated issue behind a wall, our technicians can create a few small (about 1/8 inch) access points between studs to treat that area directly.
Visible staining left behind by mold growth doesn't disappear on its own — the treatment addresses the mold, not the cosmetic mark. We can clean visible stains for a small additional cost, or you're welcome to clean them yourself once the treatment is complete.
Your technician collects an air sample right after treatment and sends it to an independent, accredited third-party lab with no affiliation to any mold testing or remediation company. Results typically arrive by email within 4 to 5 days.
The treatment's antimicrobial protectant inhibits the growth of future mold, but any underlying moisture or water issue needs to be repaired for the results to hold long term.
